Karengo Harvest 2016 With The H&G Portfolio

Last year the Rangitāne Hunting & Gathering Portfolio began an annual practice of taking a group of Rangitāne iwi members to Okiwi Bay on the Kaikoura Coast, to collect karengo. This year, although slightly colder, a small group of our iwi spent the day harvesting this delicacy from the rocks on the East Coast.

About three weeks ago Kurahaupo o Wairau travelled to Whakatu marae to bid farewell to one of their historians.

Ngā mihi kia koutou!

At our last kaumātua lunch several weeks ago we officially farewelled Uncle Jimmy and Aunty Jocelyn MacDonald before they leave to permanently relocate to Australia. We presented Uncle Jimmy with a taonga to take with him on his journey to join his whānau.
